The name “Botox”® is a brand name. Botox® is made from a bacterial toxin named Botulinum toxin. Botulinum toxin was discovered in the 1820’s and was used for treating many medical conditions such as, imbalanced eye muscles, double vision and muscle spasms. Cosmetic Botox® treatments were first discovered in the 1990’s and became FDA approved for cosmetic treatments in 2002. There are now many variations of this product and it is widely used for a range of medical and cosmetic treatments.
